Neoclassic Prints
Dominant in northern Europe during the mid-18th to the end of the 19th century, Neoclassicism was a distinct movement in the decorative and visual arts, literature, theatre, music and architecture spheres. It was drawn from Western culture particularly Ancient Greece or Ancient Rome.
Unlike artists of other movements, Neoclassic artists did not reproduce their works, each piece was an original and was not created based on self-expression or blinding inspiration. Neoclassicism desired to return to the knowledge and purity of the arts of Ancient Rome. Themes and subjects were typically classical.
The Van Gogh Gallery Art Store has a variety of Neoclassic prints available including Thomas Jefferson by Rembrandt Peale, Signing of the Declaration of Independence by John Trumbull, La Grande Odalisque, 1814 by J.A. Dominique Ingres, and Bonaparte Crossing the Great Saint Bernard Pass, 1801 by Jacques-Louis David.
The beauty of these Neoclassic posters should not be overlooked. Their influence is still apparent in the 21st century. Neoclassic fine art prints would add a lush and elegant style to your space.
