Art Deco Prints
Art Deco was a movement that became popular in the 1920s and 30s. It focused on luxury, technology, modernization and craftsmanship. The Art Deco style is characterized by precise, bold delineated geometric shapes and strong bold colors. Art Deco posters are some of the most fun and classy graphic designs created this century.
A.M. Cassandre is one of the most well known Art Deco print designers with his shipping posters such as Normandie. Along with shipping and ocean liners, trains, planes and other travel and leisure posters were in demand during the 1920s as we see with Jean-Gabriel Domerque's Cote d'Azur, Glen C. Sheffer's Chicago World's Fair 1933 and Michael Kungl's Clipper 314.
Theater and music offered another category of Art Deco prints such as 1970 Jazz in Paris by Conrad Knutsen and Fat City Cigar Lounge by Michael Kungl. Beauty, cigarettes, alcohol, food and drink all provided more inspiration for Art Deco artists such as the popular Leonetto Cappiello with his Cognac Monnet, Victoria Arduino, and Contratto.
Art Deco prints and posters present a unique and stylish image for your home or office. Several small prints can be grouped together to create a colorful and attractive focal point for a room. If you have a big space, perhaps a large Art Deco poster, or several posters, will fill it well. The possibilities with these fine art prints are endless.
