Starry Night Prints

The night always interested Van Gogh and he held an ambition to paint it for a long time. The Starry Night, or in Dutch, De sterrennacht, is one of the most famous paintings created by Dutch post-impressionist artist Vincent van Gogh. The painting was completed near the asylum of Saint Remy 13 months before Van Gogh's death. It portrays the nighttime view outside his sanitarium room window. Interestingly the work was created from memory during the day and was painted indoors unlike much of his other work.

The tumultuous style of the painting has been the source of much interpretation, speculation and wonder. No matter the meaning, the masterpiece is one of the most important pieces of art produced in the 19th century.

There is only one original painting of The Starry Night, and it hangs in the Museum of Modern Art in New York City.
