Ursula J. Brenner Wall Art

Ursula J. Brenner was born in Germany. She’s a contemporary painter who concentrates on cityscapes, landscapes, and abstracts. She studied drawing and art at Cincinnati’s Edgecliff College in the United States, graduating from the university in 1978 with a BA in Drawing and Painting. Ursula was influenced by old world architecture, music, and museums, and by artists like Albert Handell, Doug Dawson, Susan Sarback, and Wolf Kahn. She employs a Japanese method of examining darks and lights known as a ‘notan’ study, where she focuses on the fundamental nature of a scene - the shapes, colors, and values. Her work reflects a wide range of moods, from mysterious and deep to playful and light. As she creates art, she experiences a spiritual connection; something she wants the viewer to experience as well.

Her art makes an unambiguous statement, a strong, bold statement - Yet it can be very ethereal too. A national award-winning artist, Ursula wants people to look at her art to transcend the normal human experience, to be transported into another realm. Ursula’s paintings are featured in corporate and private collections internationally. In 2002, she attended the Vermont Studio Center on scholarship. She creates a diverse array of contemporary abstracts and landscapes in acrylics and encaustics. She uses contrasts in color and form to underscore emotion in each piece. Currently, she lives and works in Cincinnati, Ohio. Her pieces of art are rich in symbolic allusiveness and playfulness of spirit that give them sophistication and a poise that are ardently contemporary.
