Selina Werbelow studied at Arizona State University, and received degrees in both painting and drawing. Selina also studied art history and drawing one summer in Florence, Italy and that experience inspired her to draw and paint more landscapes. She grew up in Wyoming, in a small mining town called Gillette. Selina was born in an artistic family. Her father was a painter and ceramic artist. This made her to be surrounded with art materials from a tender age and she got interested in making things from that early age. Selina thinks that being in such a quiet and still place really helped her focus on learning how to draw and paint. The artist now lives in Tempe, AZ where she focuses strictly on painting and loves to create a variety of subjects. Within the time that she’s been working as a professional artist, Selina has been able to attract many clients.
Today some of her clients are on the lookout for her new paintings. She is very much inspired by flowers and how delicate, and yet sculptural they can be. Selina also loves painting landscapes and to make them more exciting, she mixes her painting with abstract elements. Of particular interest to her is the process an artist goes through to make a painting. With her own work, Selina likes to start by making a mess with the paint and then figures out how to turn it into something beautiful. Her art has been to many shows and can be found in many galleries and homes.
