David Chestnutt Wall Art

David Chesnutt is an artist based in Sterling Heights, Michigan, United States. He uses gradients and flat colors, to give his art a very graphic look. Chesnutt starts his illustrations traditionally so as to give them a spontaneous feel; he then completes them digitally. He has been drawing cartoons for more than 45 years, and he has been a freelance artist since 1974. Chesnutt was a political cartoonist in the Detroit Michigan area where he was working for local papers. His drawings were published more than 100 times. The United States Postal Service and many other companies have purchased his drawings. While in Detroit, he attended CCS art school for a few classes on cartooning. He also attended Crandbrook School in Bloomfield Hills Michigan. He’s now published monthly in Vette Vues magazine.

The artist creates graphic artwork that is visually stunning, architectural and bold. His partial list of clients Include Panasonic, McGraw Hill, Toronto Life Magazine, Hockey Hall of Fame, Molson's, Random House, Waldorf Astoria, TV Guide, Wall Street Journal, American Express, Pepsi, Heinz, Nonesuch Records, and AT&T. Chesnutt has produced a whole series of pencil and ink drawings. All of them have been digitized and he prints them in the same sizes. He’s always been drawn to working in a non objective, abstract way. All his inspiration, whether it be landscape, architecture or painting, he turns into graphic images and shapes, or the geometry of Life and Art. As far back as he can remember, creating and art has been his central motivation.
