David Marty Wall Art

David Marty is known for his sensitive, yet powerful landscape paintings of the western United States. He grew up in Palo Alto, California. His career took him in the direction of graphic design and illustration after he had studied at Biola University’s Art Center College of Design, and at Scottsdale Artist’s School. He worked for a publisher in Southern California before opening a successful graphic design studio. Recently, his first love of painting has rekindled and he now paints with a renewed vigor. His paintings begin as plein-air studies, working in canvas and oil. His earlier landscapes were executed in a photo-realistic, almost tight manner. He was attracted by the brighter colors, spontaneity and softness of their paintings. His turning point began after he saw the work of the French Impressionists in Paris. He is awestruck by the diversity and beauty of the Northwest.

He sees the fingerprints of a creative God all around him, from the sparkle of a meandering meadow stream to the last glow of golden light on a mountain. Marty, his five children and his wife reside in Edmonds, Washington. Marty loves the West and its many moods and try to portray a sense of tranquility and peace he has found in its vast expanses. He has been a featured artist in Western Art Collector and American Art Collector magazines and in Southwest Art magazine as an “Artist to Watch.” His work has also been used on Celebrity Apprentice and Extreme Makeover: Home Edition. The paintings have also been juried into Salon International, Oil Painters of America, Arts for the Parks Top 100 shows, and American Impressionist Society.
