As a child, Alison Jerry spent some of her time taking art classes at the Racine, Wis, The Wutsum Museum where both her grandparents were fine artists and curators. And most of the summers she would spend time with her father, Michael Jerry designing with him in his studio. Alison loves everything about art. She uses a variety of mediums like watercolor, oils, photography, Photoshop and pastels. She enjoys the entire process of making something beautiful and it doesn’t matter to her whether she makes mistakes along the way because in the end everything turns out better than what she had planned. Her style is modern, and experimental yet complex. Some of her pieces of art are hand painted, while others are digital and then hand painted. It all depends on what she’s trying to accomplish. Alison grew up in on the east coast in the Midwest.
By the time she graduated from Syracuse University with a Bachelor of Fine Arts Degree in Photography, Illustration and Surface Design she started to explore the commercial design aspect. She was hired on the Hallmark Cards to be a designer. After working at Hallmark for some time, she embarked on an amazing journey into the licensing/freelancing world by setting up a studio/office in New York City for the 15 years that followed. Her work adorns a good variety of products and she has become very successful. She also worked with UNICEF, Recycled Paper Greetings, Disney, Michaels, Jim Henson Studios, and TARGET but her love for photography and textiles kept calling her back.
