Kathy Ferguson is a mixed media artist who lives and works in New York City. She paints colorful abstract settings that are richly layered, whimsical, and complex. Kathy uses combinations of organic and geometric shapes to create imaginary worlds using ink, collage paper and paint. Her colors are usually saturated and bold alluding to worlds that are less authentic than illusionary, places not commonly found in reality but in dreams. Her paintings have been exhibited in galleries from one coast to another, including in New York at the National Association of Women Artists Gallery. Kathy’s art is held in many collections including the Four Seasons Hotel in Houston, the Plaza Hotel in New York City, and the Belmond Grand Hotel Europe in Russia (St. Petersburg). She received her Master of Fine Art degree from the Academy of Art University in San Francisco.
She creates imaginary landscapes having unique inhabitants and exploring the human narrative. She has also studied Graphic Design at Colorado Mountain College; California State University Long Beach, MBA at University of Pennsylvania, Wharton Graduate School; and at the University of Colorado in Boulder where she received a BS in Civil Engineering.
