Brenda K. Bredvik Wall Art

Brenda Bredvik (Born in 1965) was born in Michigan, but her art in oil is strongly influenced by the open, beautiful sky and bright, clear light of California. It’s here that she has made her home for more than 10 years. Brenda’s work includes geometric architectural forms and abstract landscape views, painted with emphasis on relationships between careful design and strong color, rather than the accurate representation of the subject matter. Brenda graduated with great distinction (Magna cum Laude) from Pratt Institute, where she earned her bachelor of fine arts degree. This institute is one of the premier art colleges in the country. Her studies included a tight schedule involving an emphasis on color and design theory ranging from Old Masters techniques and theories to the color field painting and minimalism of the 20th Century. Although Brenda is knowledgeable about classical methods of painting in the manner of Rembrandt and Caravaggio and other masters, she has chosen to paint in a contemporary style. She’s always striving to be the best painter she can be. She’s therefore constantly experimenting and trying new things. She says she’s not going to paint the same painting over and over again just because people will buy it; adding that it’s hard to learn new things that way. After her studies in New York City, she enjoyed a successful career as Graphic Designer and Art Director for clients from New York to LA to San Francisco, but when she went to Southern California, she got inspired by the open, warm, bright landscapes.
